It creates it as a subdomain by creating the folder within your main sites ftp. Please ignore this! It is a fully functional domain name. It is only called a subdomain when in fact it is an addon domain.

You cannot create an addon domain if your dns hasn't proprograted to the server already. So after you change the sites dns you are trying to add you will need to wait 24-48 hours before attempting to create your addon domain.
A. There are three fields cpanel asks for when creating an addon domain.
1. "New Domain Name:" You will put in the newdomain.com do not put www in the name!
2. "Username/directory/subdomain Name:" This will be the folder cpanel creates in your main accounts ftp. MAKE SURE that the name you give it doesn't already have a folder. Example... If you want to give it the username chris. You cannot have a folder in your account named chris already. If you do and still try creating the username for the addon domain to be chris you will mess a lot of things up!!!
3. "Password:" fill in any password you want here.

- What is a 'Parked' domain exactly? [top]
You can set up a domain name that you own to point to another domain name. This is known as ”parking” a domain. This is also called domain pointer.
Domain pointers allow you to "point" or "park" additional domain names to your existing hosting account. This will allow users to also reach your website when entering the "parked" or "pointed" domain into their browsers.
Example: You own yourdomain.com and greatproduct.com domain names. You already have a web site for yourdomain.com, but you do not want to create a new web site for greatproduct.com at the moment. By parking greatproduct.com on top of yourdomain.com, all URLs for greatproduct.com will automatically go to yourdomain.com instead.
Domain Parking is free with our hosting accounts.
To park a domain:
Click on the Parked Domains button on your Cpanel interface.
Enter the name of the domain that you want to park in the New Domain Name field.
Click on the Add button.

- What is an 'Add-on' domain exactly? [top]
Add-On Domains are domain names that point to subdirectories within your account. You can set up several domain names to point to different places within your account and thus display different web sites for each of the domain name.
Many hosting providers charge extra per domain for this feature. With us, it's free!
How do I setup an Add-On Domain?
To setup an add-on domain:
1. Click at the "Add-On Domains" button at your control panel.
2. Enter the full domain name that you would like to point at the "New Addon Domain" field
3. Enter the name of the subdirectory that you would like the domain name to point to at the "Username/Directory Name" field
4. Enter a password at the "Password" field
5. Click on the "Add" button
