  1. How do I backup/restore MySQL in Cpanel? [top]
    Backup
    1. Simply log in to your Cpanel account

    2. Click on 'Backup'

    3. Under databases, click the appropriate database name and you'll get a 'save file as...' dialog

    4. Save the db file to somewhere on your local drive where it won't be lost

    Restore
    1. Follow steps 1 and 2 above

    2. Find 'Restore a MySQL DB" to the right

    3. Click 'Browse...'

    4. Find your local find and click 'Select'

    5. Then, click 'Upload'

    Login to your cpanel and click MySQL Databases. After your database is created you can manage it from phpmyadmin. This can be found at the very bottom of the MySQL page.

  4. How do I upload my existing data to MySQL? [top]
    If you are restoring a backup, please see the topic on restoring to MySQL from a backup**

    WARNING: This is only for NEW database uploads… ALL DATA WILL BE OVERWRITTEN!!

    1. Login in to cpanel

    2. Click on ‘MySql’

    3. You create your database

    4. Scroll to the bottom of the page, click on ‘phpmyadmin’

    5. Click on a database name in the left frame
    A list of tables in that database will open in the right frame.

    6. Click on the ‘SQL’ tab
    On that page there will be a textarea "Run SQL query/queries on database XXX:" and a text input "Location of the textfile:".

    7. Click on the "Browse..." button next to the "Location of the textfile:" input.
    Your browser will display a file opening window asking you to specify the file for upload.

    8. Select your *.sql file for upload and hit "Go".
